Walt Disney World Celebrates 50 years

Walt Disney World will be starting it’s 18th month celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort. 50 years is a great milestone for any business. Disney though has changed so much throughout the years to continually bring the magic. I am in awe of Disney every time I step inside one of their Walt Disney World theme parks or resorts. Disney makes everything better in your life for that one moment when you step into the magical world of Disney. Throughout the years Disney has come up with great ideas as well as bad ones. One such great idea was theming. Disney can take a single idea and bring it alive in their parks. I can not tell you how much joy it brings a youngster to be able to meet their favorite prince or princess.

Whether you are 6 or 60 there is always something to do at Disney. I grew up in Florida and did not really appreciate what Disney had to offer. But once I got married, my wife and I would travel to Disney at least once a year. Disney is such a special place for my wife that I choose to propose to her at the Magic Kingdom next to Cinderella’s Castle in what used to be a wonder rose garden. From that day Disney has been a special place for me. I can think of numerous stories of other individuals who can share a similar story. Since that day we returned to Disney for our honeymoon as well as many anniversaries since then.

Our love for Disney has been given to our daughter, Louise, who loves meeting her favorite character, Tinkerbell, as well as riding Splash Mountain, her now favorite ride. It costs our family money to go to Disney but I would not trade the time and joy I get to see in Louise eye’s every time we go. A few years back we decided to start staying on Disney property which was a game-changer for me. Being able to park at the hotel and not have to use my vehicle the whole time we are there was great. Some of the highlights of staying on Disney property were getting to see the movies come alive while staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort or experiencing O’hana while eating at the Polynesian Resort.

One of the fondest memories my wife shares with me is the wonderful times she got to go camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground with her Grandparents. Every time we go to Fort Wilderness she shares a memory of them with me of their camping at this resort. We have even bought a camper so we can go camping at Fort Wilderness and experience the magic that comes with staying there. One of the great things about Fort wilderness is that even though you are staying at a campground you still get all the whole Disney experience. At Ford Wilderness you have two wonderful pools – one with a slide. You get on site dining and even a watering hole for those family members who need a stiff drink at the end of their day. Fort Wilderness has two ways to get to the parks. The first would be a bus that will take you to Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios as well as Disney Springs. To get to the Magic Kingdom you can take a boat that runs consistently at Bay Lay which connects to the Seven Seas lagoon.

Staying at a Disney resort and planning a Disney trip has been something my lovely wife loves to do. She loves it so much that the two of us this last year started working for Magic Bound Travel as travel agents specializing in Disney and Universal destinations. Being a Disney planner and being able to help others experience Disney magic has been a joy for both of us. For the next 18 months, beginning October 1 of this year, Disney will be kicking the magic into overdrive with its 50th-year celebration. You are not going to want to miss out on this wonderful time.
