Here are my Top 6 Food & Wine Festival finds from this past weekend. My number 1 is so good I am going to get it every time I go back to the festival. Keep in mind I have not tried nearly all of the foods at the festival. If you have a favorite that didn’t make my list, let me know so I can try it. Here we go!
#6 Teriyaki Chicken Bun
The chicken teriyaki bun is a steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables, and a sweet teriyaki sauce. You can find this at the Japan booth in that Pavilion. I have to admit that this one was much better than I expected. I think my expectations were lowered because I am not a fan of the steamed buns in Pandora in Animal Kingdom. The bun had a nice texture to it and a good amount of filling that was very flavorful. This also may be the easiest one to eat while walking around Epcot.
#5 Smoked Corned Beef
The smoked corned beef can be found at the Flavors from Fire booth. It is served with crispy potatoes, cheese curds, pickled onions, and beer-cheese fondue. This one was another pleasant surprise for me because I do not typically like corned beef. My grandson got it and I took a bite for research purposes. I think the beer-cheese was the key element for making the corned beef likable for me. It was good, but not spectacular. My grandson would disagree with me, though. He devoured it.
#4 Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak
Also found at the Flavors from Fire booth, the charred chimichurri skirt steak comes on a smoked corn cake with pickled vegetable slaw and cilantro aioli. I actually first tried this one at the festival in 2017 and have gotten it again every year. This is a of the favorites of festival goers, as there is usually a line at this booth. Don’t worry, though. The line moves pretty quickly. They steak is tender and charred to perfection. This one is definitely worth trying if you haven’t had it yet.
#3 Duck Confit Poutine
The duck confit poutine is found at the Refreshment Port in the World Showcase. It is served with fig demi sauce and brie cheese fondue. Duck is one of my favorite meats and this dish did not disappoint. Everything about this dish is good. If you have never tried duck, this would be a good way to give it a try. This dish is also very filling. I had to walk around for a bit before I could eat anything else. If you are a meat and potatoes person like me, you should love it.
#2 Ravioli Carbonara
Ravioli carbonara is parmesan and pecorino ravioli, egg yolk, cream, and bacon. It is found at the Italy booth in that pavilion. This dish was absolutely amazing. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The cream was infused with the smokiness of the bacon. I think I would eat this every day if I could. By the way, while we were waiting for our food we noticed several people getting the pork ribs from this booth and they looked yummy. They are on my list to try on my next visit.
#1 Maple Bourbon Cheesecake
My grandson is going to get an extra Christmas gift for suggesting this one. The maple bourbon cheesecake comes with maple bourbon cream, caramel and pecan crunch. You can find it at The Cheese Studio booth. If cheesecake and pancakes had a baby, this would be it. I cannot stress enough how much you should try this dessert. You will thank me for it.
Well, that is what I have tried so far this year. What have you tried that is good? What do you want to try? I would love to hear from you.
