Art of Animation Resort

We are staying at the Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. This resort hotel has some great amenities. First if you have a child that loves, Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, or Finding Nemo then this resort is for you. We choose to stay in the Little Mermaid style rooms. All rooms at the resort are styles in the area they are located. For instance in our room it is themed like we are under the sea with Ariel. This room has a under the sea feel from the wall decor to the walls in the shower. The room we have, which I am guessing is the same for all rooms at the Art of Animation, has a fantastic Kohler shower head that for a value hotel is amazing.

If you plan to stay here know that the Little Mermaid rooms are the budget friendly rooms that consist of two double beds or one king bed.  These rooms do not have couches, they do have a small table and two kitchen chairs. This resort does have rooms with a micro (key on the micro) fridge, the fridge has no freezer so keep that in mind if you are bringing ice packs. The room itself was just fine for my family of three. The one nice thing about the room is, even though there is not a lot of space to sit (bed and two chairs), there is a lot of space for your stuff. We had a full stroller and all of our bags in the space and still had room to move. If you plan on sitting in the room for a while this is not a room for you.

If you like to swim then this resort has you covered. At Art of Animation Resort you have a choice of three pools (sorry, not hot tubs). The three pools are the Little Mermaid’s pool (Flippin’ Fins Pool), Cars Pool (Cozy Cone Pool), and (the Big Blue Pool) inspired by Finding Nemo. Unfortunately if you are a fan of the Lion King you do not get a pool but you do get a lot of character in the Lion King section, like the Elephant Boneyard where you kids and run around. The Big Blue Pool used to have music when you swam under the water but this is no more. We were looking forward to trying it but alas they have removed this.

When you get hungry Disney has you covered with three options. First they have in-room ordering starting at 4 PM and going till midnight. They will deliver pizza, beverages of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic nature, as well as dessert or a light started. They do have some Entrees you can order as well. So if you are looking at getting in later skip the lines and order from your room. Next is the Drop Off Pool Bar. It is next to the Big Blue Pool, where they have some nice alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They also carry some frozen drinks on those hot Florida days. This would be the place where most of the dads will go when at the pool. The last option is by far the best option. This would be the Landscape of Flavors. We chose to eat breakfast here one day and my wife bought a breakfast sandwich with a huge egg and bacon. You will need to check out the menu because they have something for everyone from fresh fruit to pastries galore.

Like most resorts, if you choose to skip the parks and stay and swim, Disney has pool side activities starting at 2 PM. In addition to the pool-side activities after the sun goes down, they will show a Disney movie by the pool. No worries if it rains they will move it inside most times. The resort also has a game room that is open 24 hours a day. They also have a store that sells Disney gifts as well as some staples you might have forgotten like camera or maybe you are looking for a loaf of bread.

I give this Resort 4.5 out of 5 recommendation based on fridge size and lack of hot tubs.
